FamFridays is a new web series hosted by Anna Cagle and Danyal Mahmud who serve as Family Programs Interns for New Student & Family Services. For each episode of the series, Anna and Danyal bring together partners from across UNC Charlotte's campus to answer important questions and help family members get their student prepared to be a member of Niner Nation.

Episodes are released Fridays June through August on NSFS' Instagram and Facebook page and YouTube. Check back to this page for quick view of the episodes.

Episode 1: "Transitions and Welcome Programs"

Gold Rush is our week of welcome programs that lasts 10 days and gives new and returning students a chance to meet new people, get acclimated to campus, and participate in fun events throughout campus. You can see the Gold Rush schedule on the Niner Destination app to make sure you don't miss a thing! Tune in on Fridays for a new episode.

Episode 2: "Living on Your Own for the First Time"

In this episode we interviewed representatives from Parking, Housing and Residence Life, Dining, and Auxiliary Services to elaborate on some of your most-asked questions. Watch to hear what they had to say!

Episode 3: "Student Involvement & Leadership Opportunities"

As a new student on campus, sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start when it comes to getting involved on campus and finding leadership opportunities to gain experience. This episode explores how families can support their students as they transition to getting involved on campus.

Episode 4: "Safety & Security at UNC Charlotte"

Feeling and being safe on campus is a necessity for students. At UNC Charlotte, we have many resources available to ensure safety and security for all students. This week, we have special guest Sergeant Lecomte from UNC Charlotte police to discuss some major resources available to students.

Episode 5: "New Student & Family Services Events"

As a student goes off to college and starts their journey to their education, it’s not only a transition for the student but also for the families. Events such as a Family Weekend, Spring Family Reunion, and many others allow for families to stay involved and connected to their students and help them as they transition with their student.

Episode 6: "Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)"

Mental health is one of the most important things for a successful college student experience. At UNC Charlotte, we have a great resource called Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) that provides students with all the resources they need for a healthy mind. This week, we had the opportunity to interview Dr. Paula Keeton, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services.

Episode 7: "University Center for Academic Excellence (UCAE)"

The University Center for Academic Excellence (UCAE) is an amazing resource for students to be proactive in their coursework and successful in their classes. In this episode we will discuss the different resources provided by the UCAE and how to get started.
