Welcome from New Student and Family Services!
On behalf of the Office of New Student and Family Services, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the UNC Charlotte family. The Office of New Student and Family Services is committed to ensuring student success and inspiring #NinerPride from day one. We achieve this through innovative programs, services and opportunities focused on transition, community building, leadership development, and continuous engagement in the student and family 49er experience.
Our office is designed to assist both students and their families in the transition to and engagement with UNC Charlotte. As a growing institution, UNC Charlotte boasts half of the UNC system growth over the past six years, and student opportunities are plentiful as a result of the growth. As a Niner, students have the opportunity to participate in over 350 registered student organizations, volunteer within the Niner Student Pantry, serve as an Orientation Counselor, play intramural sports, and much more. Additionally, in the next two years, the Levine residence hall will open and the Light Rail will connect to campus. It’s an exciting time to be a Forty Niner!
Additionally, the opportunities for students to connect and engage with the University are plentiful through our office. Each year, the Office of New Student and Family Services provides leadership opportunities and employment for students who serve as Orientation Counselors, Parent and Family Marketing Assistants, Week of Welcome Executive Board members, Week of Welcome Leaders, office staff, and various other leadership roles. These students are seen as premier leaders within the University community and represent the values of Integrity, Community, Personal Development, Team Achievement, #NinerPride, and Leadership.
For our families, each fall and spring semester provides opportunities to participate in campus life through Family Weekend and Spring Family Reunion. These events welcome families back to campus and focus on the energy and excitement within the Niner community. Additionally, families can join our Parent and Family Advisory Council, contribute to the 49er Family Fund, join our free Niner Nation Family program, and learn about campus events through our monthly newsletter, Relatively Speaking.
Throughout your time here, we hope that you ask questions, connect with other students and families, and learn about our diverse campus. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a growing, thriving community and has many opportunities to offer. We look forward to working with you throughout your time at UNC Charlotte!
